All About Deep House Cleaning

Cleaning

What is it about deep cleaning that makes people dread it and prefer to keep postponing it?

It’s that one or two times of the year when we try to do everything for our homes that we haven’t managed to find time for in the past few months. With the approaching of the warmer days, some tasks just become essential and imperative. The truth is that a deep cleaning can be much easier if you manage to organize it well before you even start. Decide whether you want to invest an entire weekend or do some things over a series of weekends. Organize the members of your family and make sure everyone is helping out somehow – after all it’s a one-a-year activity, so it’s not that much to ask for. You don’t have to do absolutely everything, because many of the tasks can be done by your children too.

In the Spring

One of the common spring tasks is taking out the summer clothes and storing away the coats, scarves and boots. Include in that process emptying all the wardrobes at home and wiping them down. Check for mold or mildew and use furniture polish if necessary. Store the seasonal clothing in a neat and organized way. Do the laundry and make sure the clothes are fully dry before putting them back into to wardrobe for storage.

Check the Appliances

Once a year ensure that you check all your appliances’ working condition. If there are any issues around the house now’s the perfect time to deal with them. Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to do some clutter control. Open cabinets and storage boxes, go through the basement and garage and get rid of all the items that you’ve been storing for a while but you don’t really need or use anymore. A spring cleaning is a lot about starting fresh and making your home neat and clean, with fresher air and a healthier overall environment. The garage cleanup is not something we do on a regular basis, so once a year, when the weather gets warmer you can spend a few hours on that. Check for pests and any other hazards and clean each and every corner and crevice.

Take a look at the outdoor area

Take a look at the outdoor area and spend some time on all the problematic spots that grab your attention – the patio paint, weeding, any repairs. Remember that the way your house looks on the outside makes a big impression on anyone who enters it. It might be immaculate on the inside, but if the front yard is in bad condition it will eventually be noticed. Other areas that you should treat include: the ceiling or standing fans, the fireplace, the bathtub, the terraces, the air vents, the blinds, etc. Deep cleaning includes many tasks that we don’t usually do, so it’s reasonable to focus on getting as much as possible done with just one go.

Even if you don’t have much time you can surely spend a few hours one weekend and with the help of your family do the most of the work. The spring cleaning is all about clutter control, tidying up, doing a thorough cleanup, deodorizing, pest control and sorting out your home so it’s tidy, cozy and welcoming. A clean home is a healthy home, where you’d love to sit and relax, so invest some time for a good spring cleaning and you won’t regret it.
