If your preschool kids love Nickelodeon and the music that you hear on the shows, then they’ll love Nickelodeon Favorites: Dance to the Music! This DVD releases on 2/28/12 and features over 2 hours of the best music-filled episodes of their favorite shows, including Dora the Explorer, Team Umizoomi, Bubble Guppies, Go Diego Go!, The Wonder Pets and Ni Hao, Kai-Lan.
I originally thought that this would just be a DVD of clips from the various shows, highlighting the music and songs. Instead, it is full-length episodes of each cartoon as mentioned above. I think we would have preferred to have little snippets. This is a long one (over 2 hours) so I don’t suggest even trying to watch it all at once. However, it would be nice for a road trip since it has a variety of all of the Nick Jr. shows.
My kids loved this, especially Ni Hao. I think it’s good for them to see others getting mad and upset and learning how to deal with their feelings without hurting others. They did enjoy all of the music, as usual. And I found myself singing along as well, especially to The Wonder Pets (“this is sewious”). Don’t worry, I eradicated the songs from my brain quickly enough.

Dora the Explorer – “La Maestra de Música”
Boots’ music teacher (la maestra de música) needs to get to school in a hurry but her bicycle is broken. Dora and Boots join her on a musical adventure through the town, over Musical Mountain, and finally to the school just in time to greet the students with a song.
Team Umizoomi – “Butterfly Dance”
Milli can’t wait to go see her friend Sophia dance in her school play, “The Big Bug Show,” but the Umi Team learns that Sophia’s butterfly costume is missing some parts! Milli, Geo, and Bot zoom to Sophia’s school to find the matching wing, discover a pattern of jewels to make the costume sparkle, and track down Sophie’s lost antennae.
Bubble Guppies – “We Totally Rock”
Are you ready to rock? The Bubble Guppies are totally amped and they’re taking it to the stage. Get ready to learn everything about rock and roll.
Go Diego, Go! – “The Iguana Sing-Along”
The Iguana sing-along is about to start but one of the iguanas is missing. Iggy the Iguana is lost inside a cold cave and iguanas can’t move in the cold. Diego races against the setting sun to get Iggy back home in time for the sing-along!
The Wonder Pets! – “Save the Beetles / Fiddler Crab on the Roof”
The Wonder Pets journey to Liverpool to save a band of mop-haired Beetles who are trapped in a Yellowish Submarine.
In their next adventure, The Wonder Pets travel to a small village in old Russia to save a Fiddler Crab on the roof of a small house.
Ni Hao, Kai-lan –“The Ants Dance”
Today there’s a big talent show in the backyard. Kai-lan and her band are excited to play their new song, and to see the ants perform the big dance number. But when a bossy ant makes all the choices about the dance routine, Kai-lan needs the viewer’s help to convince the ant to let everyone have a choice so the show can go on!
