The Mistress’s Revenge by Tamar Cohen

Lucky me was able to snag a free copy of The Mistress's Revenge by Tamar Cohen from the June Simon & Schuster book club newsletter!  (Let's ignore the fact that it is almost October.  Please.) Anyway, I had heard a lot of buzz about this book and really wanted to read it.  Basically, it's about a married woman (Sally) who has an affair with a married man (Clive).  Suddenly, one day Clive declares the affair over but Sally can't let go.  To put it bluntly, she goes psycho.  Clive does not take this wall and retaliates in some not-so-legal ways that turn out to bite him in the butt. This book depressed the crap out of me.  Maybe it's the cloudy weather we've been having or the fact that I didn't feel too well while reading most of it but I was still brought down by it.  But I will attribute this feeling to how well Cohen wrote this story.  Sally is depressed - the person she feels is the love of her life has left her and keeps telling her to go away.  That feeling came … [Read more...]

*CLOSED* Rhyme time with Mother Goose Club Review & Giveaway

mothergoose

Rhyming rocks.  There's a reason why most of the famous children's songs have it as part of their scheme.  And of course the most known rhymes come from Mother Goose (she sure was prolific!).  She's got a club of characters to help your preschooler learn about reading called The Mother Goose Club.  These colorful friends teach have very short one minute programs to help promote literacy. My three year old son loves singing and dance along to music and of course a book fiend like me wants to do all she can to promote literacy.  So when I was given a chance to review some materials from the Mother Goose Club, I was thrilled.  I received the Nursery Rhyme Singing Time with Mother Goose Club DVD, both volumes of the Mother Goose Club Sings Nursery Rhymes and a coloring book. I first slipped the CDs into the car stereo for a bit of entertainment that is more appropriate than what I usually play for him.  Well, we learned that this mommy needs to brush up on her nursery rhymes.  I … [Read more...]

A Heart Revealed by Julie Lessman Blog Tour

heartrevealed

A Heart Revealed is the second book in the Winds of Change series by Julie Lessman.  Here's a summary from the publisher: Ten years ago, Emma Malloy fled Dublin for Boston as a battered woman, escaping the husband who scarred her beautiful face. The physical and emotional wounds have faded with time, and her life is finally full of purpose and free from the pain of her past. But when she falls for her friend Charity's handsome and charming brother, Sean O'Connor, fear and shame threaten to destroy her. Could Sean and Emma ever have a future together? Or is Emma doomed to live out the rest of her life denying the only true love she's ever known? I wanted to review this book because I had enjoyed the first book, A Hope Undaunted.  Well, I can't say I liked this one quite as much.  I wish there had been more timely references like there were in the first book.  This may be because I love historical novels but I just didn't feel there were quite enough in this installment. I also … [Read more...]

*CLOSED* Be proactive and protect with Prefense Hand Sanitizer

prefense

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, Prefense has been pretty big in the blogging world the past few years.  I had seen it around and was pretty dubious.  Really, a hand sanitizer that lasts through 10 hand washings?  Uh huh.  But I decided to try it out since my husband is a hypochondriac - he pours rubbing alcohol directly onto his hands during the cold and flu season. Before I give you my take on it, here's the scoop on why Prefense is different:  it's alcohol-free.  And now you're probably like me, wondering how it works then.  Well, here's the scoop.  Alcohol-based sanitizers merely dehydrate the germs - once this product is dried, the germs keep thriving.  Prefense actually slices open the cells so the germs are really killed. Also, Prefense contains a silica complex that creates a soothing, moisturizing barrier that keeps your skin soft.  This complex keeps the protection going for up to 10 hand washings!  Plus, since there is no alcohol, Prefense is … [Read more...]

Find Safe & Natural Kids Play Makeup

I would love to find safe and natural Kids Play Makeup since my daughter LOVES playing with makeup.  I don't want to give her grown-up stuff, but I also don't want her playing with stuff that is laden with chemicals or other scary stuff. I found this really cute Kids Play Makeup set that is all natural and not badly priced.  It's really hard to find cute kits that have a great variety at a decent price.  While I do want the best for my daughter, I don't want to break the bank while doing so! Don't buy Kids Play Makeup that has scary ingredients in it - check out OrganicBeautyNow.com for Kids Play Makeup you can trust! I was compensated for this post.  However, all thoughts are 100% my own. … [Read more...]
