What Are You Reading Monday

mondayreading

In an effort to get back to my roots of hard-core reading, I'd like to start participating in a few memes that highlight what I'm reading/have just read/am going to read.  I found this nifty meme from Book Journey and thought I'd join in. Yesterday, I just finished Love You More by Lisa Gardner.  I hope to have a review up this week (but of course, don't hold me to that).  I'll be looking to read earlier books of hers. Last night, I started reading an ARC of Silver Girl by Elin Hilderbrand.  So far, it's fantastic and I'm so glad I got a chance to read this so far ahead of it's release on 6/21.  I also hope to be able to share this ARC with one of you in June (hint, hint). I also started Double Takeby Melody Carlson as part of an upcoming blog tour.  I'm a sucker for Amish fiction and this fits right in so far. Hopefully soon I'll be starting Spring for Susannah by Cathy Richmond.  Actually, make that definitely because the blog tour starts next week so I better get … [Read more...]

*CLOSED* Disney Store’s Grand Reopening in West Nyack, NY (Giveaway)

disneystore

For those of us Disney freaks who aren't able to get to a Disney park frequently enough, there is the Disney Store.  I go to a few different locations to see what they have and to stock up on our family's Disney clothing.  And the fun just got better, because now the closest location to me in the Palisades Mall in West Nyack, NY, is having a grand opening of their redesigned store!  This is especially thrilling to me because I was really wanting to check out the redesigned Times Square store in NYC but now I don't have to make the trip to the city, plus I can do some other shopping at the same time. These newly redesigned stores showcase interactive features like a Disney Princess Castle and Magic Mirror, a Cars toy-building area, Translucent Magical Trees and the Disney Store Theatre.  Here's some pictures of a similarly redesigned Disney Store in Canada (all photos property of Disney): So I'm thinking that this new Disney Store looks really cool and like somewhere I … [Read more...]

Savings.com helps you get the stuff you want for less!

savings

I have bought so much stuff on the internet lately.  I bought all of my family's gifts for their birthdays from various sites.  I searched high and low for coupon codes but would have saved a lot of time with http://www.savings.com.  This site offers tons of coupons for your internet shopping.  For instance, I see a code for Zulily, a company I just bought from this past week.  I had managed to find a discount code after sorting through a whole bunch and trying them, but I know Savings.com would have probably saved me a lot of time. I try to never buy anything online without searching for coupons.  Even if a code just saves you shipping, that's way better than nothing.  I have been known to take hours to complete my online purchases because I'm so focused on getting the best deal with a code.  With Savings.com, I can just browse quickly and see what the best coupons are.  Using Zulily again, I can see when their code was submitted and when it expires.  I can also see how … [Read more...]

The Baby Planner by Josie Brown

babyplanner

As you may remember from last year, I have fallen in love with Josie Brown's books.  My affair started with The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives.  And now my crush just got bigger with The Baby Planner. Here's a quick summary to get you hooked: Katie Johnson may make her living consulting with new moms on the latest greatest baby gadgets no parent should be without, or which mommy meet-ups are the most socially desirable, or whether melon truly is the new black, but the success of her marriage to her husband, Alex, depends on controlling her own urges toward motherhood. He's adamant that they stay childless. Sure, Katie understands that he's upset over the fact that his out-of-town ex-wife rarely lets him see their ten-year-old son, Peter. But living vicariously through her anxious clients and her twin sisters' precocious children only makes Katie resent his stance more deeply. While helping a new client—Seth Harris, a high tech entrepreneur who must raise … [Read more...]

Enjoy Mexican at home with Ortega products

ortega

I love Mexican food.  To death.  Unfortunately, neither my husband nor my 5 year old daughter are as much in love with the spice as I am.  So therefore, there is little Mexican food for me and what we do have, I have to tailor-make at home. Ortega makes it easy for me to do this.  I can pick and choose from their extensive line of products and make Mexican food that keeps all of us happy. Recently, I got to try some products that were new to even me. I was sent Whole Grain Corn Taco Shells, Whole Wheat tortillas, 40% less sodium Taco Seasoning and Original Taco Sauce to try out.  As I said before, believe it or not, these products were all new to me but variations on ones I had tried already. I was actually out of ground beef but we do have a lot of frozen chicken breast so I decided to make chicken tacos.  I cooked up the cut-up chicken breast and then added the taco seasoning mix.  However, I didn't add the whole packet.  I added 2 tablespoons, which was about a third … [Read more...]

Send Mother’s Day flowers online!

We all know Mother's Day is this coming Sunday (yes, THIS Sunday!).  Did you remember the mom figure in your life?  No?  Well, here's your last chance to make good in honoring her by sending flowers online. Of course, you're probably moaning and groaning over the cost that will be involved.  I have a site for you to help take the bite out of that gift this year.  You can find Mothers Day Flower Delivery Discounts so you're not paying out the nose for flowers.  Maybe you could even save enough money to take Mom out to brunch! Not only can you find codes for Proflowers, but there also 1800Flowers.com coupon codes so you aren't restricted to one site.  Right now, checking out the site (www.flowerdeliverydeals.com) I see some deals on potted orchids and sausage snack boxes. I also saw 1800flowers coupons where you can get 18 roses for Mom for only $20.  You can't even get that at a florist this weekend!  I have ordered from this 1800Flowers before and find their products … [Read more...]
