*CLOSED* Entenmann’s introduces Pancake Pockets – Review & Giveaway

pancake

In our household, Entenmann's products are a big treat.  Once a box is opened, it's emptied pretty quickly.  Entenmann's also brings back fond memories of my grandmother, so when I eat their products, I get a nice memory of my grandmother as well as a delicious baked good. So I was excited to try out the new Pancake Pockets.  These are exactly like what they sound like - very similar to pita bread, but made out of pancakes instead.  These pockets come with strawberry, chocolate or maple filling.  I  chose to buy the Pancake Pockets with strawberry filling because chocolate sounded gross and maple was not available (but if they had had maple, I would have been so on that!). It's really easy to "make" these - just pop them (in the plastic wrapper) in the microwave for 10 seconds and that's plenty of time to make filling nice and gooey but not too hot.  These would not work well in the toaster because the filling would ooze out and that would just be bad.  I'm sure you could … [Read more...]

Shutterfly has cards for all occasions!

shutterfly

Unless you've been living in a hole, you probably know that Shutterfly.com has a huge selection of photo products for you to choose from.  However, I think they're best known for their photo cards, most notably their selection of holiday photo cards.  And that selection is huge!  Whatever holiday you're celebrating, Shutterfly is sure to have something to fit your needs and tastes. For instance, we've started a tradition of sending out Christmas photo cards with a photo of the kids so everybody can see how much they've grown.  My only problem is narrowing it down to just one design!  But I'll try really hard so you can see the wide array of designs that Shutterfly offers. One of my choices is this really cute Rudolph's Ride.  I love the snowman and Rudolph aspect of it - it just matches my taste in Christmas wrapping paper for the kids (and I am a HUGE fan of wrapping paper, as my disgruntled husband can tell you).  What's even better about this card is that it can be … [Read more...]

Let’s Hear It For the Laurie Berkner Band! DVD Review

laurie

Laurie Berkner is a big deal in our house.  Both of my kids sing and dance along when her "videos" pop up on Nick Jr.  So I knew they would be very happy to be able to watch a nice big chunk of Laurie, along with our hosts Moose and Zee on this DVD, Let's Hear It For the Laurie Berkner Band! This DVD runs about 44 minutes long and features a bunch of Laurie Berkner band videos, interspersed with clips from Moose and Zee, just so you don't go into Laurie overload.  Some of the songs are "Victor Vito", "I'm a Mess", and "My Energy", among many other older and newer favorites. I know I've seen reviews that other viewers were disappointed that the "Family" song was not included and I have to agree.  However, I really enjoyed seeing/hearing songs that you won't see on Nick Jr. anymore since they're more of a vintage Laurie.  My kids started listening after Laurie was huge (like she had groupies and concerts in Central Park huge) but she is still enjoyable and fun. However, be warned … [Read more...]

ayala6

I'm always looking for  the next great product, mostly food-related.  I love when these products are low-calorie and better for me and when they are delicious.  Well, I think I'm on to something here with Ayala's Herbal Water.  Get this - Ayala's Herbal Water has zero calories, zero artificial sweeteners, flavors and colors and zero chemical preservatives.  Okay, now that I've got your attention about what this product doesn't have, let me tell you what it does have - pure water that is infused with the finest natural herbs from around the world. My tasting sample kit came with a suggested order of how to taste the 6 flavors of Ayala's Herbal Water.  I wanted to get the best experience, so I tasted them in this order.  I will give my thoughts on each flavor: Ginger Lemon Peel: Definitely more lemon than ginger, I love that the lemon is not artificial.  This is real lemon that doesn't leave that bitter taste in your mouth like artificial lemon.  This is perfect to settle my … [Read more...]

The Waiting by Suzanne Woods Fisher Blog Tour

thewaiting

The Waiting by Suzanne Woods Fisher is the second book in the Lancaster County Secrets Series.  I think it's best to just use the publisher's description so I don't give anything anyway: Jorie King has been waiting for Benjamin Zook to return home to Lancaster County so they can marry. When news arrives that Ben has been killed, Jorie finds comfort in the friendship of his brother Caleb. That friendship ripens into love, and it seems that they are meant to be together. But when the unexpected happens, their worlds are turned upside down once more. Will Jorie trust God to lead her into the arms of a new man? Both the Kings and Zooks are Amish families living in the time of the Vietnam War.  It was interesting to hear about how the Amish felt about this war.  However, Benjamin's beliefs diverged from his people's, thus the reason why he was over there fighting.  It was also intriguing to learn how his family felt about his personal form of conscientious objection. There was … [Read more...]
