A Memory Between Us by Sarah Sundin Blog Tour

memory

A Memory Between Us by Sarah Sundin is the second book in the Wings of Glory series.  However, it is definitely a book that stands by itself and does not need to be read in order.  In this book, Lieutenant Ruth Doherty is a nurse during WWII.  She is working her way up the ranks when she meets Major Jack Novak, a pilot that was wounded during duty.  Her carefully constructed wall comes tumbling down but she only wishes she had kept it up when Jack finds out about her past. I love books about World War II.  I especially enjoyed that this book balanced out the war and flying terminology with nursing language, which I am definitely more familiar with.  I got confused when the parts of the plane were described during this book and especially when some of the technical language was used.  However, that was overshadowed in a good way by the story. Another aspect of this story that I greatly enjoyed was learning how a woman's reputation shadowed her present.  While Ruth's past … [Read more...]

Monday Afternoon by Stephen Sangirardi

Monday Afternoon - Stephen Sangirardi - Kindle

Monday Afternoon by Stephen Sangirardi is the story of an affair.  Angelo Aiello is not happy in his marriage with his wife, Alice, but loves his daughter Sophia desperately.  He meets a woman named Monica who seems to be his perfect match and begins an affair with her.  In what seems like a long time, but is actually only the span of a few weeks, Angelo wrestles with his conscience, his family and what seems to be the love of his life, his soulmate. Angelo is so unhappy in his marriage that he is unbelievably cruel to his wife.  I cringe whenever he talks to her because he usually resorts to calling her crazy and fat (which, yes, she is, but it's still not right).  It's as if he's trying to drive her away, as much as he has seen it doesn't work and just leads to more problems for himself.  I am so glad that he actually has the affair because then he can stop being mean - he's gotten out and has somewhere to be happy, rather than just wallowing in his depression and … [Read more...]

Dentyne Pure purifies your breath

dentyne

I'm constantly terrified that my breath stinks, maybe because I come across many stinky breath people who don't seem to realize that they offend.  So I'm constantly brushing my teeth or popping mints that don't do much to get rid of strong flavors that linger. So Dentyne Pure is a fabulous new product that is more than just a chewing gum that tastes great; it also neutralizes bad breath odors with a special blend of ingredients called NeutraFresh.  Dentyne Pure comes in two great flavors: Mint with Melon Accents and Mint with Herbal Accents. I had had a nice odoriferous dinner one night as what about to head out.  I decided to pop a piece of the Mint with Melon.  I loved it!  My mouth felt clean but not overly minty, like I was breathing out mouth wash fumes.  The flavor and effect lasted a long time, even with just one piece of the "chiclet" style gum.  I later tried the Mint with Herbal accents and was not quite as impressed, but I lean more towards fruit than herbs, so that … [Read more...]

Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill Remastered for PC & Mac

secrets

Do you remember Nancy Drew and her sleuthing exploits?  I remember both the originals and the "new generation" books.  Well, now Nancy Drew leaps into the computer age with the line of PC/Mac games where you are the sleuth!  Secrets Can Kill was the very first game in the series and has been remastered and rereleased in honor of Nancy Drew's 80th anniversary. The premise of the game is that Nancy has gone to visit her aunt in Florida.  A high school student has been killed so Nancy goes undercover as a student to try to find out what happened.  Here's a link to the trailer: http://www.herinteractive.com/play-now-trailers.php?game_id=sck2&platform=pc. I had already tried a few of the other games and was so looking forward to playing Secrets Can Kill.  As you start the game, you must choose between junior and senior detective.  Unless you're a hard core gamer (and then I doubt you would be playing this game), I highly recommend picking junior detective.  This way you … [Read more...]

*CLOSED* EvoraKids Probiotics for Oral Health Review and Giveaway

EvoraKids_smaller

My husband is a dentist's dream.  I swear he's bought a few different dentists a few cars and maybe even a boat.  His problems all stem from not brushing as well as he could have, so we are really worried about keeping our kids' teeth healthy as they can be. But brushing a toddler's teeth effectively?  Or making a 4 year old let you brush her teeth, when she "can do it myself Mommy!"?  Oral hygiene is just another battle in our daily routine, and I hate that it is one.  With my 4 year old, she loves brushing but still needs us to do the bulk of it to be sure that every surface is getting brushed.  But I really want her to learn how to do it herself.  So this is a daily struggle. EvoraKids Probiotics for kids' oral health are just what we need.  EvoraKids is a chewable tablet that is taken twice daily to help kill off harmful bacteria that can lead to tooth decay in your child's mouth.  This product is meant for ages 3-10- just when they need to learn how important oral … [Read more...]

*CLOSED* Ziploc Bags & Containers Review & Giveaway

ziploc

Ziploc is what many consider the gold standard for resealable containers and bags.  Our family uses these products for so many things - freezing leftovers, bringing lunch to work, packing snacks for the kids and when travelling to contain spillable items.  It's one of those classes of items that you need to make your house run correctly. So when I was given a chance to reexamine several Ziploc products, I was thrilled.  These products would be put to hard work in our house and now I can share more about them with you! First, I spied in the box of products the Ziploc Brand Containers with the Smart Snap Seal.  I opened these babies right up in order to freeze some soup my husband was making.  I love these containers because I know they're closed with the "smart snap seal" so I never worry about them leaking.  But they're also disposable/recyclable so if they crack or have something nasty in them (known to happen around here), I can just chuck them without feeling like I spent … [Read more...]
