Review of Neutrogena Ultrasheer Liquid Daily Sunblock

UltraSheerLiquidSunblockSPF70+_185x225

Let me start by saying, I’m white. Really white. But I’m bad about wearing sunblock, especially on my face. I know, I know – that’s how wrinkles start. But since I’m 30 and get mistaken for 18 sometimes, I don’t worry about it too much, even though I know I should. Enter UltraSheer Liquid Daily Sunblock from Neutrogena. This product is made to go on invisibly under your makeup. It is waterproof, and, best of all, it’s SPF 70. My husband says that’s like a sweater in a tube, but if it keeps off the sun, then I like it. The particular form of sun protection is the UltraSheer Liquid Sunblock is called Helioplex. This offers broad protection against UVA and UVB rays and helps prevent premature aging (because even I don’t want to jump from 18 to 40 in one summer). First I put this on the back of my hand to be sure I didn’t have any sensitivity. I generally don’t but just wanted to be sure before I put it on my face. On my face, it went on very smoothly and … [Read more...]

Psyched Saturday!

memday

Welcome to another (sporadic) edition Psyched Saturday.  This Saturday, I am having this published as I am spending a day with a very close friend at a very special event in her life.  I know, that's cryptic.  I'll just say it's AWESOME and I'm sure I'm having a blast as you read this. The rest of the weekend encompasses a barbeque and having hubs do his usual outdoor stuff.  Not as great but it gets him some extra time off.  :) What are you up to this weekend?  Are you celebrating?  Travelling?  Chilling?  Or, since it IS Memorial Day weekend, is there somebody you would like to remember for their service to our country?  Leave a comment and let me know! … [Read more...]

*CLOSED* – Review and Giveaway of Revolution Foods from Ecomom

revfoods

My oldest is only in preschool, but I'm already having some issues finding healthy food that can be eaten on the go.  Many healthy foods can be squished easily, including fresh fruit.  And you know that those bruises just don't fly with the little ones.  "Mommy, I don't want to eat the black spot!"  And many foods that the kids like are filled with junk. So I was ecstatic to see that new options for snacks on the go and school lunches are now available!  Ecomom, internet seller of various eco-friendly baby goods,  kindly provided me with a sampling of the Grammy Sammy, Mashups, and Jammy Sammy products from Revolution Foods. Mashups are mashed-up, 100% organic fruit in pouch.  They are available in Strawberry Banana, Mixed Berry, Tropical and Grape flavors.  You can freeze this to help keep the rest of your child's lunch cold.  The cap is resealable so if you are out and about, just reseal it and save it for later. The Grammy Sammies are 100% whole grain sandwiches … [Read more...]

Disney Freak

Yes, I am Disney Freak.  Actually, my husband prefers to call me something else that isn't so PC so we'll stick with this more acceptable name. I love Disney World.  I have been there 9 times.  While that doesn't sound like a lot to some Disney fans, it's a lot when you consider that for the past 10 years I have been with a man who hates to fly.  And we live in the north east.  Far from Disney World.  So we get there when we can, usually by driving. We were planning on going next May, right before our son turns 3 but I don't know if that's in the cards now.  But I overheard somebody talking about a friend getting a great deal on a vacation package to Disney World.  And that just got us all hyped up again. Mind you, we just did a marathon trip in January down to my parent's winter house outside of Ocala, then on to Disney, then back to my parents' and then home.  Meanwhile, DD was sick.  Then we got colds.  Then DS got a bad ear infection.  Then DH got a stomach bug … [Read more...]

WAT-AAH! – it’s wat’s good for kids

wataah

Kids love juice.  And parents love giving it to kids because it seems healthy.  However, right after my daughter was born, there was a study published that showed a link between childhood obesity and their consumption of juice.  That was all I needed to freak out and decide that water was for my kids.  However, I can't keep thinking that there is something missing from their most-consumed beverage. And so we have WAT-AAH!, a drink that tastes just like water but has added supplements to help keep your kids healthy.  Simply puth, WAT-AAH! has what you want your kids to get (oxygen, electrolytes, magnesium) and doesn't have what you don't your kids to have (impurities, sugar, extra salt). There are four different varieties of WAT-AAH!  Energy has added oxygen to help your kids perform better physically.  Power contains Magnesium, which contributes greatly to bone strength.  Brain incorporates electrolytes, making it the perfect "sports drink" for children.  Body is pure … [Read more...]

May is National Foster Care Month

If you didn't know that May is National Foster Care Month, then you're not alone.  I didn't know either.  But now I do, and I'm asking you, my readers, to help spread the word about fostering and adopting children.  Currently, more than 463,000 children are in foster care and 123,000 children awaiting adoption. I think this video is better than anything I could write to help you realize what a great need for foster homes there are right now: Children in Foster Care. AdoptUsKids is a great resource for finding out how to go about fostering and adopting kids in your area.  Another way to learn more is to attend the Twitter party on May 27th at 2 pm EST for an hour-long chat.  Just follow #AdoptUsKids. There are so many kids out there that need a home.  Please just look over the information I've given you.  If you have any questions, I'm sure somebody at AdoptUsKids can help you, or just check out the Twitter party. … [Read more...]

Review of The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker

giant

I started The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker some time last year and was thoroughly enjoying it.  However, it got pushed to the bottom of the "TBR" pile and then had the bookmark pulled out by a mischievous little toddler, so I became discouraged.  When I was given a chance to review this, I jumped at the chance and am so glad I did. The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker is about a woman named Truly who has always been something of a giant.  Her birth is tainted by the immediate death of her mother.  Truly is so large at birth that she is unable to fit into anything that her mother has prepared for her.  And so her life begins. Truly must live in the shadow of her older sister, Serena Jane, who is beautiful and popular.  Truly is sent to be cared for by poor neighbors, the Dyersons, and is so raised to be like a sister to Amelia Dyerson.  Truly and Serena Jane grow further and further apart until one day, Truly goes to take care of Serena … [Read more...]
