**CLOSED** Review and Giveaway of Reads Like Murder In Honolulu by Georgina Donovan

Reads Like Murder in Honolulu by Georgina Donovan is the first in a mystery series. Haley Wyndham is an independent book store owner from San Diego. She is called by her friend Kana to come visit Hawaii as he has some thing very important to show her. The morning of her departure, Haley has some strange things happen to her. Then Haley travels to Honolulu only to find her friend missing and his shop trashed. Haley connects with one of Kana's relatives, Keoni Chase, who is also a local detective. Together they try to find out where Kana is and who is behind the murder of a local author and the disappearance of Kana. I thought this book was mediocre. All of the events leading up to Haley's departure for Hawaii lead to a strong start. However, after about halfway through, I began wondering when we'd find out who the murderer was and where Kana was being kept or hiding. The story does redeem itself at the end, when Haley and Keoni must find their way home from a … [Read more...]

Review of Dead Man of the Year by Stephen Hawley Martin

Dead Man of the Year by Stephen Hawley Martin is a mystery. Brian Durston has recently left an advertising agency in New York to join his uncle's own agency in Richmond, Virginia. However, not long after arriving, he finds his Uncle Rod's body, dead of an apparent suicide. However, he immediately feels that something is off, and decides to find out what really happened. All of this occurs while the agency is in middle of losing it's biggest account. I really enjoyed this mystery. It read very smoothly. I didn't get confused because there were too many characters (which, admittedly, happens easily for me). I greatly enjoyed the characters, especially Mary - he fully renders her as a cheap person and keeps that going throughout the book, often in a humorous way. The only major issue I have is with the introduction of Nickie, Brian's love interest and sleuthing partner. I think she basically just shows up - almost as if Martin had problems trying to figure out how to … [Read more...]

Zestra-y and sexy – Review
If you are under the age of 18 or easily offended, please do not read any further! When I was given an opportunity to try out Zestra, I jumped on the chance. Because, honestly, our sex life is pretty good, but it could always be better. And me saying "pretty good" means "not nearly enough" in husband-ese. Zestra is an essential arousal oil. You simply apply it to the clitoris and labia, wait about five minutes, and wait for that tingly sensation. I really didn't rub it in at all, just kind of dropped it on there. And oh boy, is it a sensation! I feel it took a bit longer than the recommended 10 minutes to hit the peak, but it definitely helped increase my arousal level. Sometimes it can take me more than 20 minutes to get going, but this made it happen more quickly. I felt that the sensation about a half of a package of Zestra provided was perfect. A bit less would have been too little, and a bit more would have been too much. However, my husband jumped up … [Read more...]

Review of Raging Roots by Rosa Barden

Raging Roots by Rosa Barden, published by Dorrance Publishing, is the story of a woman named Tara who is trying to find out who her father is. She revisits the town where her mother (who has recently passed away) lived to try to find out who the man might be. In the meantime, Tara begins a relationship with the head of the local church, even as other women of the congregation are determined to snag him themselves. I did not enjoy this book at all. It was poorly written and edited. Whole scene changes would take place from one sentence to the next with no indication of what had just happened. The story is a decent one. However, the reader is left hanging at the end, wondering who Tara's father was. There are some insinuations throughout the book but I can't tell if they were real clues or just ideas. Also of note is the sexual nature of this book. I have no problem with this but I do think it should be noted that there are several explicit scenes that may not be … [Read more...]
